GP specialty training in the UK is governed by statutory regulations, which are currently administered and regulated by the General Medical Council (GMC)

The GMC's role in GP specialty training includes curriculum and assessment system approval; quality assuring and evaluating the management of specialty training; dealing promptly with concerns that cannot be resolved locally; prospective approval of all training programmes, posts and GP Trainers. This latter responsibility is devolved to Deaneries by the GMC.

The document below sets out the Wales GP Specialty Training School's procedures for the initial approval and regular monitoring of the performance of GP Trainers and GP Training Practices.
